How the library is organized, what its metadata means, and the field terms used throughout BlueLux guidance.
How the library is organized
Sections group guidance by subject. Types describe what the document helps you do. Tags connect a few tightly related subjects across sections. Risk describes the most serious credible consequence covered by the document. Status remains an editorial control and appears publicly only while an entry is a draft.
Start Here is a curated reading path, not another section. A document can move between sections without changing its ID. Within each section, editors assign an explicit reading order.
Sections
Use a section when you know the part of the work. The seven sections stay broad on purpose, so readers do not have to guess between several overlapping categories.

- BLX
- The BlueLux document namespace.
- SOP
- The stable document-series prefix assigned when this entry was created. It may differ from the current plain-language type label.
- 002
- A stable serial identifier within that type. It is not a reading order or priority rank.
- v0.1
- The content version. Drafts normally remain below 1.0; published revisions advance under BlueLux version control.
The ID stays stable when a title is refined or a document moves between sections. Links use readable slugs, while the ID is the durable reference for records, training, and future systems.

Guide
Explains a core concept or equipment family so the reader can understand normal operation, evidence, limitations, and controlling instructions.

Gives an ordered, repeatable field task with a quick reference, stop conditions, completion criteria, and documentation when the work creates a record.

Starts with a symptom and organizes safe observations, checks, likely causes, and escalation boundaries without granting repair authority.

Provides calculations, conversions, targets, decision bands, or other compact information for quick field use.

Provides a concise verification sequence for inspection, closeout, documentation, or another defined checkpoint.

Defines hazard recognition, protective controls, stop-work conditions, emergency actions, and qualified referral boundaries.
View 12Risk levels
Risk is based on the most serious credible consequence covered by the document when a control, boundary, or stop condition is missed. It is not a prediction that harm will occur, a measure of how often the task is performed, or permission to perform the work.
Low risk
The task is normally observational or routine, and a bounded mistake is unlikely to create serious harm or major damage when the stated limits are followed.

The work includes controlled operational or service risks. A mistake can damage equipment, impair water care, or create a condition that requires corrective work.
View 16High risk
A credible mistake can create meaningful chemical, pressure, suction, hydraulic, water-quality, equipment, or property harm. Exact procedures and stop conditions matter.
View 57Critical risk
The subject includes a credible path to severe injury, poisoning, drowning, fire, electric shock, structural damage, or another major consequence. Strict boundaries and escalation control.

Scope labels describe the kind of action discussed. They do not override a technician's training, authorization, the equipment manual, law, or the document's stop conditions.
- Inspect
- Observe, measure, photograph, identify, and record without changing the system.
- Operate
- Use a normal installed control for its understood and authorized purpose.
- Maintain
- Perform the defined recurring care task within the applicable procedure and equipment instructions.
- Repair
- Correct, replace, alter, or restore a component only when the work is separately authorized and qualified.
- Refer
- Stop at the stated boundary and route the condition to BlueLux Operations or the appropriate qualified professional.
Facility scope
Most Playbook guidance is universal and carries no facility badge. A badge appears only when the entire document is limited to residential work, commercial or public aquatics, or a named jurisdiction. Short differences inside an otherwise universal article appear as callouts beside the affected guidance.
Field terminology
Baseline
A documented normal reading or operating state captured under comparable conditions and used to identify meaningful change.
Find entriesCalcium hardness
The measured concentration of dissolved calcium expressed as calcium carbonate. It is one input to water-balance and saturation decisions.
Find entriesCombined chlorine
Chlorine measured as combined compounds rather than free available chlorine. It is calculated from valid total and free chlorine results.
Find entriesCyanuric acid (CYA)
A chlorine stabilizer that changes the relationship between measured free chlorine and active sanitizer conditions.
Find entriesFree chlorine
The measured chlorine available in forms that can participate in sanitizing and oxidation, interpreted with pH, CYA, temperature, and system conditions.
Find entriesGPM
Gallons per minute, a water-flow rate. Displayed or estimated GPM is useful only when the measurement method and operating state are known.
Find entriesHydraulic state
The complete water-path condition at a moment in time, including pump command, speed, valves, suction, returns, features, and dependent equipment.
Find entriesLSI or CSI
Saturation-index models used to estimate calcium-carbonate scaling or dissolving tendency from several measured water conditions.
Find entriesPrime
The condition in which the pump and intended suction path contain enough water for stable circulation without persistent air ingestion.
Find entriesPSI
Pounds per square inch, commonly used for filter pressure. A reading requires a working gauge and a matched equipment state to be meaningful.
Find entriesSanitizer
The approved active system used to control microorganisms. A sanitizer reading is not, by itself, proof that every water condition is acceptable.
Find entriesSkimmer
A surface-level suction component that draws floating debris toward a basket and the circulation system when water level and flow are suitable.
Find entriesTotal alkalinity
A measure of water's acid-neutralizing capacity, expressed as calcium carbonate and interpreted as part of the complete balance system.
Find entriesWater balance
The interacting condition of pH, alkalinity, calcium, temperature, dissolved solids, stabilizer, and other factors affecting comfort, surfaces, and equipment.
