En resumen

BlueLux inspects salt cells about quarterly and cleans only when conditions or manufacturer guidance call for it. Cleaning is $50 on-route with an active maintenance plan or $100 standalone; Premium and Lux include up to four condition-based cleanings per year.

Our Salt Cell Cleaning Process

A clean salt cell produces chlorine consistently and lasts years longer. Here is exactly what we do.

1

Power Down & Remove

We shut off the salt system, disconnect the cell, and carefully remove it from the plumbing.

2

Visual Inspection

We check the plates for scale buildup, erosion, and coating wear. If the cell is near end of life, we let you know.

3

Condition-Based Descaling

When cleaning is needed, we use a manufacturer-appropriate method and the minimum effective exposure to remove scale without unnecessary plate wear.

4

Rinse & Reinstall

After descaling, we rinse thoroughly, reinstall the cell, and verify the system is reading and producing properly.

$50 Plan / $100 Standalone

$50 on-route for active plan customers or $100 standalone when inspection shows cleaning is needed. Cell replacement is separate.

Quarterly Inspection

BlueLux inspects the cell about quarterly and cleans only when scale, debris, output, or manufacturer guidance indicates it is needed.

Included in Premium+

Premium and Lux plan members get 4 salt cell cleans per year at no extra cost ($200 value).

Signs Your Salt Cell Needs Cleaning

Low chlorine despite normal salt levels

Scale on the plates blocks chlorine production even when salt readings are in range.

"Check Salt Cell" or "Inspect Cell" warning light

Most salt systems have built-in alerts when the cell is not generating properly.

Visible white or gray scale on the plates

Look through the cell housing. If you can see buildup on the metal plates, it is time for a clean.

Quarterly inspection shows scale or debris

San Diego's calcium-heavy water causes scale to build faster than in softer water areas.
