Safety Data Sheets, each with a plain-language summary.

In an emergency, call first

Liquid Chlorine

Sodium hypochlorite 12.5% (HASA HASACHLOR)

Manufacturer: HASA

Corrosive bleach (12.5% sodium hypochlorite). The big danger is mixing it with acid, which makes toxic chlorine gas. Wear goggles and gloves, pour into deep water, keep the jug vented and out of the sun.

Muriatic Acid

Hydrochloric acid (HASA Muriatic Acid)

Manufacturer: HASA

Strong acid (hydrochloric acid). Burns skin and eyes and gives off harsh fumes. Never let it touch chlorine. Always add acid to water, pour into the deep end, and keep the cap tight.

Trichlor Tablets

Trichloro-s-triazinetrione (E-Z Clor Big Tabs 3 inch and Small Tabs 1 inch)

Manufacturer: E-Z Clor

Concentrated stabilized chlorine tablet and strong oxidizer. Fatal if inhaled and dangerous when wet. Keep it dry and sealed, never mix it with any other chlorine or acid, and use a dedicated dry scoop. (1 inch tabs share this sheet.)

Dichlor Shock

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate (E-Z Clor Quick Dissolve)

Manufacturer: E-Z Clor

Fast-dissolving stabilized chlorine shock and strong oxidizer. Fatal if inhaled and dangerous when wet. Keep dry and sealed, broadcast into deep water, and never mix with trichlor or liquid chlorine.

Soda Ash (pH Up)

Sodium carbonate (HASA Soda Ash)

Manufacturer: HASA

Raises pH. Main risk is the dust, which is toxic to breathe and irritates eyes. Pour low and slow to avoid dust, wear glasses and a dust mask, and keep it away from acid.

Alkalinity Increaser

Sodium bicarbonate (Arm & Hammer Alkalinity First)

Manufacturer: Arm & Hammer

Plain baking soda used to raise alkalinity. Not classified as hazardous. The only real nuisance is dust, so avoid breathing it and keep it away from acid.

Stabilizer (Conditioner)

Cyanuric acid (E-Z Clor Clor Save)

Manufacturer: E-Z Clor

Conditioner that keeps chlorine from burning off in sunlight. Mild irritant. Avoid the dust, add it through the skimmer, and store it away from chlorine products.

For any other product without a sheet here, read the bottle label and its own SDS before use.
